SC Star Citizen

Ok, I've heard a lot about Star Citizen but honestly its all been very shallow "hey this looks great" type stuff. What exactly is this game about?

edit: ...omg did i see them demo a VR headset for use with this game in the intro video on the main site???

i bought a pack a while ago havent seenanything since the release of the stardock thing tho but the game sounds interesting

I've got two packages i think and have been keeping tabs on development, they are pretty good at very regular news/article updates. I got burnt out on EVE and loved Freelancer, its a risk of course with any kind of crowd funded project (even a $37m funded one with a familiar face at the helm) but have my fingers crossed that this will deliver on its promises.

both me and tsasha have beta / alpha access for this aswell just sent a join request to loms

ok question, and I'm sorry if this info is out there and i missed it. will this game be a B2P and then you buy things from the shop as desired, or will it have a monthly fee? I like the looks of everything I have seen I just can't take on another monthly sub right now

Taken from http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Citizen
Star Citizen uses a similar model to ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2. You only need to buy the base game, which will be released at $60, and you never have to buy any add-ons or pay subscription fees after that. The game will be supported afterwards by mictrotransactions to purchase in-game currency. It will not be possible to purchase anything that cannot be obtained through playing the game, and there will be a monthly limit on purchasing. They will be avoiding a "Pay-to-win" environment.

During the fundraising stage, any person who pledges $30 will receive the full game on release, but not alpha and beta access during development. Any person who pledges $40 or more will receive the full game including alpha and beta access during development.

been looking into it as well and like Vervie not quite sure what ship to get but so far leaning towards the Freelancer and going exploring.

Screw it getting the freelancer package, the idea of just going where the solar wind takes me appeals to me :D. Upgraded to Constellation.

Actually thinking of upgrading to Constellation but unsure of this multiple person per ship thing.

So...now I am thinking if you are in exploration/mercantile vessels, should I fleet-in with an armed escort of some sort?

Let's discuss the LoMS Fleet :)

Dayum I love me a space game.

so upgraded to the Constellation mostly because it gave me the Cobra MKII vibe from Frontier 2 (God i loved that game) and from the description it seems to have 4 manned point defence turrents which is interresting.

This looks intriguing... Who's running the LoMS fleet and what do we need? ;)

yea, been thinking of getting a smaller ship as well since the constellation is quite large tbh. Is there anything in the forums about how turrents works in the game?. Just went to check some screen stats and it seems that the Merlin comes standard with the Constellation. Need to check up on that once i get home from work.
