[Mar 9, 2014] ESO Meeting (ESO)

Just to get alliance ect ready so when game starts we are not unsecured what to make.

Going to make it so we can do it right after Treehouse meeting

Alliances in ESO are the equivilant of factions in TSW.

The difference seems to be that in TSW any faction can PvE play with each other, they can not be in the same guild.

In ESO, any alliance can be in the same guild, but CAN NOT PvE play with each other. (Maybe that was a feature disabled in betas, maybe it will change.) But for now it seems the smartest thing to do is agree on the same alliance if we want to do questing and dungeons together.

Wait, so, as it is, within a guild there can be people that can't PvE together? That's so counter-intuitive.

Yeah. Maybe it will be different this beta. There's still some features that seem to be turend off, like displaying nameplates.

In ESO ALL your characters, whatever their 'home' Alliance, are tied to the alliance of the GUILD LEADER..!!

Each alliance has it's own PvE areas, with no crossover!!
If you & your friend(s) choose a different Alliance to you, next time u see them will be in Cyrodill or @lvl 50....

atm the whole 'end-game' is built around the 3 Alliance war in Cyrodill
There are campaigns, which last 3months + some smaller stuff i'm not sure about.
Campaigns are limited to 2000 ppl at a time.

In ESO you will have a starting shard just like TSW & you will be tied to pvp on said shard...

There is a US super server & an EU super server....
I doubt US & EU players will end up in the same pvp campaign....

I also doubt that we can all agree to the same faction...

I would suggest trying to see if we can have a guild per faction as we do in TSW...

PLUS a 'globo' guild so that we can all see main guild chat (u can join 5 guilds *shrugs*)

In SW:TOR you could register guilds & members in advance, so you all ended up in the same world,
Not in ESO tho... :/

The whole thing seems stacked against existing organised guilds ending up together, not sure if this is by accident or design.......

But think if 30-50 of us were all running together in a single 2000man campaign....!
I'm pretty sure we would quickly dominate the opposition (i'm crap at pvp btw...)

Not quite sure how this will pan out really....

I think I am just too dense to understand this, Coyaga... Lliah and Sykja had toons that were Almderi Dominion, they are part of the LoMS Guild, which is a Ebonheart Pact Guild - when they entered Cyrodiil, they were playing for the Dominion, not the Pact... Didn't you say that they would be forced to play as a member of the Ebonheart Pact when enterin PVP?

I noticed that too & tbh I'm not sure anymore..
That's how I understood it originally, however, it may be different in the beta or they may have changed things in the mechanics of the game.
So atm I just don't know....

Hmmm... also, you enter a guild with your user name. So all of your toons are automatically members of all guilds... If you are truly tied to the guild leader's faction - you would be forced to have all your toons be in the same faction... That cannot be the idea of the game... Oh well, I guess we will see once the game goes live.

I gotta say, I was excited about this game, put in an order for the pre-order and now hearing all this, I am out. I cancelled my pre-order. I am out.

As far as I can make out...
Guilds can be cross Alliance, however, guild members from different Alliances cannot PvE with 1 another as each Alliance has it's own PvE area.
They also cannot PvP with each other or against each other in the Guilds HOME campaign!

So if Anuschka & I are both in LoMS ESO guild, playing different alliance characters we can to all intents & purposes never meet....

You do have the option of GUESTING in a campaign other than your home campaign.
I am surmising that in the guest campaign you would be able to PvP against guildies of opposing alliances.
But (there is always a but...) there was something about alliance points being reduced or limited or something in non Home campaigns.

Ostensively, if only cross alliance wise, the guild is basically a chat program.
& imho a pretty poor chat program..

Not sure how alts are dealt with or the 5 guild option either, it's hard enough to keep up with 1 guild chat nevermind 5....

I also don't know how the preorder, 'play in any alliance' works out either...

But in SWTOR if you are dark side you can't even see if Light side friends are online, so it could be worse...

You can't even have a secret alt.... o_O

In the end, I believe the game encourages you to make toons in differnet alliances, not only so that you can experience the various quest lines and the different landscapes, but also so that you can actually do dungeons and PvP together with friends who are in a different alliance.

I gotta say, I was excited about this game, put in an order for the pre-order and now hearing all this, I am out. I cancelled my pre-order. I am out.
Don't let yourself be discouraged or put off, Kitarra! Coyaga and I are really just speculating right now, we both do not know anything for sure! :-)

It's not just that. It's everything I have been reading. I am not into pvp AT ALL and that seems to be most of the endgame material. The fact that when you pve it's mostly solo. I have spent a lot of time readings the post NDA stuff and I am hearing very few things I am wildly liking.

After comparing both ESO and WildStar, I think that for me (obviously subjective), Wildstar sounds like a better fit with the way I like to play things.

Wildstar art looks very cartoonish and childish to me. I would never hang out in that world. Having played ESO now through the entire beta process, I also think Bethesda is making some TERRIBLE decisions in their game configuration. I have preordered but am not sure i will be playing. I am considering canceling my preorder and just waiting to see how the launch goes.
