Does anyone have any advice on how to lockpick without going thru 20 per chest? Seriously I just found the Stonefalls CE Treasure Map chest and see that its an intermediate lock, and haven't been able to get it open yet >_<
 
Lockpicking ....not a fan ...out of the umphteen i tried i got only 1 and it was easy

I don't know why they made the UI so difficult when everyone's so used to the one from Skyrim/Fallout. It's too reliant on twitch reaction than trial and error.
 
Timed puzzles in an online game where lag is inherent seems like a bad idea to me... but maybe I'm just bitter because I'm terrible at lockpicking.
 
Use left klick to push the pin down to where it starts to shake then right klick to lock it ;) easy

Never used right click either.
What i do is just release LMB as soon as it shakes.
I find it easier to just focus on the sound.
Intermediate takes a few tries, but rarely more than 2 attempts per pin.

Just use the LMB as well, only the master chests give me any trouble tbh.
 
No right mouse button for me, either. Just press the left mouse button and hold it until the pin starts to shake - then release the left mouse button. If you release too late, you break your lockpick. If you release too early, the pin won't stay locked in but jump back up again. Either way, you now have an idea how far you have to "push" until it starts shaking and can anticipate when to release the left mouse button. :)

I have use both techniques 1) release LMB when it shakes and 2) click RMB when it shakes.

I have MUCH better success with clicking the RMB. I can do simple and intermediate locks. I haven't tried a master lock since i switched to RMB click but i know i was struggling with simple locks with the first technique. I have not tried listening for a change in sound. I will try that today.

We have also noticed that the skill level of the chest is dependent on who is looking at it. So either there is a hidden level or it is level based.
 
Im just gonna wait for iku to open and then ill just snatch .......;)
 
i actually did what everyone has stated in here the lmb technique works and here a lil vid on it i found on the youtube thingie
