Alright since the NDA has been lifted I can share my opinions, likes and dislikes...etc...
I'll start out by saying that initially I was VERY critical of ESO. I didn't feel like it played like a MMO should and felt it was kind of slow moving. With that in mind I went back to play WoW with my daughter some and realized that I really loathed the normal MMO community. TSW has always been a blessing as far as its community goes in my opinion, and ESO seemed to have a pleasant community as well so I decided to give it another go during beta weekend. I'm very glad that I did as I have come to really love the game.
There is something really important to keep in mind. While this is an Elder Scrolls world there are some things lacking, like you can't walk up to a table and steal everything off of it for the hell of it. Obviously some things needed to be scaled back because this is an online title but you can still search urns, chests, jugs and everything of that sort. The loot inside will respawn randomly after someone has gotten it, meaning it is open world loot not locked to anyone. Initially I found that sort of annoying because I was coming across an immense number of empty items but after awhile I stopped caring since I was running into a healthy amount that I was able to loot before anyone else.
The story was a bit slow to start as you are a prisoner in Coldharbor and it focuses on a plan to escape along with The Prophet (I have no idea what his full name is so far). The game eases you into things pretty well although frankly if you have ever played an Elder Scrolls title before then you will have no issues picking this one up. Now I was playing as a member of the Daggerfall Covenant and after getting beyond the prison and back to Tamriel I was given a mission to recruit some people for this pirate captain and then from there left to my own devices. The game is interesting in that it will place an objective marker for a given quest and then leave you to it to go explore and find your way there. Along the way you will manage to find new quests, sky shards and everything in-between. The world itself is beautiful and I actually liked exploring, so in my opinion this was done well as far as how questing is setup.
I didn't get a chance to do pvp in beta but I have a video, and the majority of articles online about ESO PvP have been very positive
I'm gonna be honest, I have a ton to say about my beta impressions so I will be back later to update this, but my TL;DR version is as follows:
The Good - Great story, smooth questing, pvp seems to have gotten everything right, everything about the game feels immersive once you get going
The Bad - Slow getting started, some of the animations are kind of "off", questing can be a little confusing and easy to get lost unless you understand how to use the objective markers
